My PB for Alternative Provision (PRU)

The My Personal Best is an innovation project for young people attending Alternative Provision (AP) and Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) settings. The project is funded through the Department for Education Inclusion 2024-25 grant to develop and support AP and PRUs in developing life skills in their young people. It builds upon the success of the 2020/21 pilot with 6 PRUs, and the past three years of Inclusion 2024, where 30 further PRUs engaged with the project.

Description

What’s involved: Our experienced team of tutors will work with your SLT and school workforce to understand your settings, your current delivery, and your young people to ensure that the training and the resources provided are bespoke, relatable, relevant, and realistic for your learners. Your school will also become part of a wider community of practice with other PRUs and Alternative Provision Schools nationally. The project offers an opportunity to provide training and upskill teachers, support assistants, wider school workforce and SLT to engage young people in PRUs through adapting their lesson plans and delivery to explicitly focus on key life skill development. Outcomes: The project aims to support staff and SLT to embed life skills and character education into wider school curriculum through explicitly teaching these skills within PE lessons. It will support staff to develop the required knowledge, skills, and resources to use PE to develop learners’ character and for staff to develop and apply life skills that will support young people to flourish in PE, school, and life.

For your school to take part in this programme you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

·       Based at either a Pupil Referral Unit / Alternative Provision setting OR a Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School

Duration: Upon acceptance to the programme, you will remain involved until the end of the 2024/25 academic year. The deadline for expressions of interest is 14 June 2024.
