Spotlight on water safety on Lake Malawi

Youth Sport Trust International has just delivered a pilot six-day training course in Malawi on behalf of World Aquatics, as part of a new worldwide flagship programme, Discover Water. The programme is based on extensive international research and aims to put physical and aquatic literacy at the heart of programmes.

World Aquatics commissioned Youth Sport Trust International to support the development of the programme by devising a guidebook for country leads and strategic governing body personnel, a toolkit for educators who will deliver the programme to children and training courses for both country leads and in-country educators.

In addition to theory, strategic planning and curriculum development, country leads must demonstrate competence in the delivery of a Discover Water lesson. 16 country leads from 16 African nations took part in the pilot course.
