The Academy includes...
Tutors
Tutors are former primary or secondary school teachers or practitioners, headteachers, Ofsted inspectors or assessors with a wealth of practical educational experience and qualifications. They deliver our courses and training for school members, open courses for non-members as well as supporting the development and authoring of new programmes.
We have teams of tutors who specialise in delivering training, such as Inclusive PE (IPE), raising aspirations and leadership skills through our Girls Active programmes, as well as tutors who deliver training and support around primary or secondary school training programmes. Our tutors also deliver camps, events and leadership training directly with children and young people on behalf of YST.
Athete Mentors
Since 2003 the Youth Sport Trust has been pioneering the effective and inspirational use of elite athletes in schools. Our team of Athlete Mentors which includes a host of Olympic, Paralympic, World Championship and Commonwealth medallists have a wealth of experience providing inspiration through the sharing of their journey and personal stories of struggle and success.
Delivering bespoke interventions through assemblies, workshops and masterclasses they can address a range of school challenges and empower young people to change behaviours, improve academic achievement and develop aspirations.

Development Coaches
Development Coaches provide high level coaching and development support on specified areas of work and programmes. Our Coaches are often current or former physical education and school sport specialists from the primary, secondary or special school sector, the majority however are School Games Organisers or Partnership Development Managers with experience of sports development in a variety of education contexts.
The Development Coach team are deployed regionally to coach and mentor local peers to develop their practice to ensure that all primary, secondary and special schools are maximising their Physical Education, School Sport And Physical Activity offer to enhance the lives of all young people. The aim of the team is to ensure high quality and sustainable delivery, through capacity building and investment into the school system.

Team Leaders
The Youth Sport Trust 'Team Leader programme' has been running for over 10 years and provides individuals aged 18+ with great exposure to the world of sport development whilst helping them to improve both personal and professional skills through volunteering.
Over the duration of the programme, Team leaders take on the responsibility of leading a group of young people, facilitating and delivering mini-workshops, guiding and supporting groups in sessions delivered by Youth Sport Trust Learning staff, Tutors and Athlete Mentors and a wealth of other organisations.
